Who should join?
✏Handwriting Mechanics
(Print & Cursive)
Many students struggle with handwriting due to fine motor difficulties, Dysgraphia, or lack of proper instruction in letter formation. Our program focuses on:
✔ Proper letter formation & spacing
✔ Strengthening pencil grip & motor coordination
✔ Fun, multisensory activities to reinforce muscle memory & legibility
💡 Research shows that handwriting instruction improves writing fluency and cognitive development, enhancing overall literacy skills (Berninger & Wolf, 2009).
📖Reading Skills & Phonemic Awareness
Reading fluency relies on strong phonemic awareness, decoding skills, and comprehension strategies. This camp will:
✔ Strengthen phonological & phonemic awareness
✔ Improve decoding & word recognition strategies
✔ Increase reading fluency & confidence
💡 Studies indicate that early intervention in phonemic awareness leads to significant improvements in reading success (National Reading Panel, 2000).
🔍 Understanding Dyslexia:
Dyslexia is a neurobiological learning difference that affects reading, spelling, and word recognition. Students with Dyslexia benefit from explicit, multisensory, and structured literacy instruction, which is the foundation of our summer program.
📝 Written Composition & Storytelling
Writing is a critical skill for academic success! Students will:
✔ Develop sentence structure & grammar
✔ Learn editing & revising strategies
✔ Practice creative, reflective, and functional writing
💡 Children with Dysgraphia, a writing disorder affecting fine motor skills and written expression, often struggle with handwriting, spelling, and organization of ideas. Explicit instruction and structured practice significantly improve writing ability (Richards et al., 2015).
