The Vine School is a special program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and related Communication Disorders. The program is open to children age two through eighteen. The Vine School does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, or religion.

Parents are invited to visit the school and observe in the classroom so they will be able to make an informed decision about whether the available opening is suitable for their child. An initial screening is then conducted to determine each child's eligibility for admission to the program.

THIS INCLUDES:

  1. Parent interview
  2. Review of detailed application information.
  3. Review of relevant records, including all previous testing and evaluations.
  4. Informal evaluation of the child through observation in one of our classrooms.
  5. Placement meeting of The Vine School staff to make a decision regarding The Vine School's ability to meet the needs of the student.

No formal evaluation is completed by The Vine School prior to admission; however, parents are encouraged to have a full evaluation completed by a developmental pediatrician or developmental center.

Every child who is admitted must have a completed medical examination. Most children come to us with detailed pediatric evaluations as well as vision and hearing assessments and other related tests.

Once admitted into the program, The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) and The Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS) is administered to use as a curriculum guide and a baseline against which future development is measured.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:

The Vine School's goal is that no child should be turned away due to financial limitations. Financial assistance is available for families who wish to attend The Vine School. The Board of Directors considers each application on an individual basis. Assistance is awarded based on the availability of funds and the family's financial need.

The Vine School accepts students for admission without regard to their financial status. Decisions regarding admission and financial assistance are made separately.

Any family who has been accepted for enrollment and wishes to apply for financial assistance at The Vine School should fill out an application made available through FACTS. (Please do not fill out the application until the student has been accepted).
